Common Side Effects of Stop Smoking Drugs
Undergoing smoking cessation treatment produces positive effects to smokers. Being a smoker is not cool, in the first place. Quitting from smoking can be very tedious but the outcome is very satisfying. However, the treatment, having its advantages, also accompanies with it some disadvantages. Some medicines used during the therapy might have some side effects.
Some of the most common include, diarrhea, gingivitis, chest pain, back pain, headache and dizziness. There are also those who suffer from polyuria (excessive urination), menstrual disorder on women, hypertension, weight gain and the lowering of blood sugar levels. Others also suffer from anxiety, depression and emotional disorder from using Chantix, a smoking cessation drug.
The side effects are a result of chemical reactions in the body. After years of smoking, nicotine is able to penetrate the body’s system. Hence, after quitting from smoking, the body reacts as it is used to receiving nicotine. Such reaction of the body is normal as it undergoes the process of cleansing itself and should not be a cause for worry. These disadvantages, as a result of the side effects, should not discourage one from undergoing quit smoking therapy.
There are ways, of course, to counter the side effects. As can be observed, the side effects are common diseases/illnesses that can be easily treated. Medications can be used against diarrhea, gingivitis, chest pain, and so on. Weight gain can be countered with exercise. Fruit juices can replenish the body with blood sugar content. But the best way is to consult your doctor for the medications.
