Is Stop Smoking Laser Therapy a Fraud?

As more and more smokers want to undergo smoke cessation therapies, a number of treatments have also sprouted like mushrooms. We already heard of nicotine patches, organic substitutes for smoking, special diets, physician-prescribed medications and many other therapies.

One relatively new treatment is the stop smoking laser therapy or LLLT (low level laser therapy). The process uses cold laser at various meridian points of the body to produce endorphins. Endorphins are also called the “feel good chemicals.” It is naturally produced by the body when someone does something gratifying or pleasant such as smoking. An increase in endorphin levels can help minimize cravings for smoking.

The therapy is similar to acupuncture, the difference is that LLLT uses some kind of a laser pen instead of a needle. It is also used to help reduce cravings for food, sugar and other similar instances. One health clinic, offering the service, said it also help reduce stress.

However, some claim that stop smoking laser therapy is a fraud. They claim that success rate of the treatment is low. Aside from it, there are only few published studies regarding the use of laser therapy for smoke cessation. Some even claim that there is no evidence that show that LLLT cures nicotine addiction. The laser treatment is still on the trial stage and has not yet been approved by the FDA.

If you want to be sure, it is always better to ask for the best known method in curing nicotine addiction. Consult your most trusted physician regarding the method. Or better yet, do the research yourself.
