We all know that smoking is a difficult habit to break, once one gets addicted to it. The primary reason for such addictive nature of smoking is attributed to nicotine (a substance contained in tobacco), which is not only hazardous to health, it is so addictive that with time, body gets so used to the substance that a person on nicotine would need regular doses of it, just in order to feel normal.
Scientifically, there are no specific reasons due to which people take to smoking. The human body doesn’t need to smoke in order to stay alive, like the way it needs food, water and air etc. Most people feel that prevention of smoking for the first time is easier than actually trying to leave it after having developed a habit for tobacco.

Nicotine, cyanide and other harmful substances in cigarette can cause extensive harm to the human body. Ugly skin and bad hair are two of the most visible side effects of smoking. This happens due to the fact that smoke restricts blood vessels and it leads to pallid skin, which makes smokers appear ill and low on energy. Smoking also hampers human body’s tendency to produce collagen, which is important for producing the healing effect after an injury.
Therefore, people smoking regularly have the tendency to take more time to heal as compared to non-smokers. Halitosis and Psoriasis are two medical conditions which are direct consequences of smoking. While Halitosis refers to a condition of persistent bad breath, Psoriasis is a rare, lethal skin disease which can lead to rashes all over the body.
